– A resolution was proposed by Dr. Umair Ansari on World Environment Day for addressing climate and environmental issues.
The resolution received support from experts and participants, stating that they will collaborate in addressing these issues through monthly sessions at Gulistan Scout Training Center and online and physical sessions involving government officials and people from different backgrounds.
– Dr. Qadeer Muhammad Ali, from the Marine Reference Collection and Resources Center, University of Karachi, stressed the need for collective action and collaboration among organizations to address climate change.
– The main cause of ocean destruction is untreated industrial waste and pollution. The installation of treatment plants, industry cooperation, government support, and media involvement are essential to prevent further damage.
– Amar Guriro, a climate environmental journalist, called for adhering to proper waste disposal procedures, reducing plastic usage, and increasing pressure on the government, civil society, media, students, academia, and lawyers to address the issue.
– Fatima Majeed, an environmental activist, highlighted the disconnection between the sea and rivers, pollution from industrialization, and the negative impact on fishermen and their habitats.
– Abdul Rahim from the Gwadar Development Authority discussed the severe pollution effects on marine life, including whales, dolphins, and turtles, and expressed support for the Pakistan Development Forum’s efforts.
– Ali Dhamani, a cyclist and activist, emphasized the need to address the dangerous situation of diminishing fish and increasing plastic in the sea, promoting physical activity, and raising environmental awareness.
